Wild About Aden

Tuesday 15th & Wednesday 16th August 2017

Following the huge success of the now annual Wild About Aden event (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016 each having over 6,000 people attendees) the 2017 event will offer a great two day fun filled event with something for all the family to enjoy. This year’s event will feature a range of new and different family friendly activities including: outdoor nature sessions for younger children and their parents; animal handling workshops by The Critter Keeper; a selection of rare breed animals from the Rare Breeds Survival Trust; face painting; environmental art; storytelling; treasure hunt; horticulture activities; wildlife crime caravan; RSPB; North East Scotland Biodiversity Partnership; foot massage; sports by Active Schools and Active Aberdeenshire; scout activities; bush craft; campfire cooking; and the ever popular bike track, body zorbing and climbing wall!

We are also delighted to announce that this year children and families alike will have a unique opportunity to participate in an array of exciting sports related activities being run by Aberdeen FC and Ellon Rugby Club.

So if you fancy bouncing around inside an inflatable ball, handling bugs and insects, learning about rare breed animals, searching for treasure, or perhaps trying you hand at a variety of sporting activities, why not join us for a family fun day out in Aden Country Park.

Wild About Aden is a partnership project between Aberdeenshire Council Central Buchan Community Learning & Development, the Ranger, Museum and Library Services, Buchan Development Partnership, NHS Grampian, Active Aberdeenshire, Shell, Rare Breeds Survival Trust, Buchan Community Radio, Friends of Aden, amongst others, and is designed to provide two days of family fun within the beautiful setting of Aden Country Park. It is hoped that the event will promote family learning opportunities through a range of hands on experiential learning, whilst raising awareness of the local environment and North East farming heritage.
