Sci-fi Classic to be screened at Aden Flicks

New life for the Café at Aden

Local business partnership, Joanna and Noel Gall, of The Lodge, Strichen, opened the doors of the Café in Aden last week. The Café, which is situated in the scenic Aden Country Park, in Mintlaw, will open daily from 10am to 5pm, Tuesday to Sunday and will offer a selection of light lunches, home baking and hot and cold drinks.

Sunshine, Smiles and Goodies!

What a fantastic day for nearly 200 bikers who completed the 2013 Aden Bike Challenge on Sunday June 2nd. With no rain and the sun shining all day, there was a great atmosphere at Aden Country Park as the bikers reached the end of their 10 mile cycle and received a rapturous welcome back at the finish line.

With more than 250 people already registered, spots are still available for the Aden Bike Challenge which is taking place next Sunday, 2nd June!  Winter weather forced the postponement of the event in March but the new June date promises an enjoyable day out for the whole family.

Aden Bike Challenge rescheduled for June

The Aden Bike Challenge, cancelled at the start of last month due to bad weather, has been rescheduled to take place in the summer. Snow and hail put a halt to the March 10 event and the plans of hundreds of local cyclists, but organisers were still keen to build on the success of the first event last year.

Funding Awarded for new Aden Allotments

This year’s annual vintage tractor working day at Aden Country Park should prove to be the best yet. Obituary: Margaret Barron of Hareshowe

When Margaret Barron finally gave up the farm that been in her family for generations it was less the end of an era, more the start of an extraordinary living legacy. For the old steading, deep in the heart of the Aberdeenshire countryside, that had been her home for half a century, was not only an excellent example of a typical Buchan farm but it stood frozen in time in the 1950s.

As part of sound, the North East Scotland's festival of new music, Aden Country Park will be hosting the Swedish Curious Chamber Players on Thursday 27th October at 1pm in the Aden Theatre. The Curious Chamber Players will showcase brand new works by the Scandinavian composers written in close collaboration with the ensemble, which comprises a flute, clarinet, violin, guitar as well as some newly invented sound objects.

Hands on History at Aden Country Park 

Aden Country Park is to host a 2 day “Hands on History” event where a skills swap shop will take place. Traditional crafts and pass times such as weaving and knitting will be exchanged with modern pass times like texting and playing the wii. The event will be held in the theatre in the Aberdeenshire Farming Museum, Aden Country Park, Mintlaw on the 18th & 19th October.

Rare Day Out at Vintage Tractor Working Day 

Come to Aden Country Park in its 30th birthday year for a rare chance to see a wide variety of vintage tractors on display and doing the work they were made for. The annual vintage tractor day will be held at Hareshowe Working Farm, Aden Country Park, Mintlaw, on Sunday 26th September, from 12:15pm until 4.15pm

Focus on Aden at BDP Forum

Buchan Development Partnership’s Annual General Meeting and Autumn Forum (sponsored by Shell) will be held on the Thursday 30th September in the Stuartfield Public Hall, Burnett Street, Stuartfield starting at 7.30pm.  The topic for the evening is Aden Country Park, Mintlaw.

Past and present come together at Aden Country Park

Skills swap shop combines traditional activities with up-to-the-minute computer fun. The traditional clashed with the contemporary yesterday during a fun day at a north-east visitor attraction. Aden Country Park at Mintlaw hosted the so-called skills swap shop, which showcased weaving and knitting in the same arena as playing games on the Wii computer console.

The son of the founding father of one of the north-east’s most popular visitor attractions planted a tree at the site yesterday in memory of his family’s links with the area.

Aden Country Park to celebrate with Traditional Folk Music 

As part of the Aden Country Park 30th anniversary celebrations, the Ugie Folk Club will be holding an informal concert of traditional songs and tunes on Saturday 24th July, from 1pm to 3.30pm, at the Aberdeenshire Farming Museum.

Tree-mendous botanical garden branches out!

Aberdeenshire Council has officially open a regenerated botanical garden of trees (arboretum) at Aden Country Park in Mintlaw. The renovation to the existing remains of a Victorian arboretum is the first phase of a £100,000 project undertaken by the council’s Transportation and Infrastructure Service to develop and establish themed tree collections in the park.

Award-winning Aberdeenshire Council caravan parks open their doors 

Aberdeenshire Council’s award-winning caravan parks are now open for business and ready to welcome guests. The council operates six coastal caravan parks at Banff, Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Portsoy, Rosehearty and Stonehaven. It also runs four countryside parks at Aden, Ballater, Haughton and Turriff and all are close to local amenities and attractions.
