Thistle Catering wins Healthyliving Award
Local catering firm Thistle Catering Services was recognised as a market leader in providing healthy food recently.
It gained the prestigious Healthy Living Award for Aden Country Park Restaurant, Mintlaw, presented at an award ceremony held in Glasgow recently.
Lorraine Bredin who has operated the café for eight years says that all the hard work by the staff has paid off:
“We pride ourselves in using local produce as much as possible and are delighted to be recognised through the award scheme,” she said.
The Healthyliving Award gives national recognition to caterers and the food service sector for providing healthier menu options as well as associated promotional activity; we are delighted with such an achievement which is in line with the government’s key drivers for a healthier Scotland by helping people make small changes to their diet.
To qualify for the healthyliving award caterers need to meet a set of criteria, which included a commitment to providing and supporting healthier eating.
Thistle Catering Services has grown over the last 5 years, in particular the outside catering side of the business, as well as operating Aden Country Park Restaurant.
“Over the years we have been very fortunate to work on many prestigious contracts; including the catering at Castle Fraser, Cortes House, Aboyne Highland Games marquee, Turriff Show, Tarland Show, Portsoy Traditional Boats Festival, and most recently having catered at Fyvie Castle for the Princess Royal Trust, and also providing the private lunch for HRH Princess Anne and guests during a recent visit to Belwade World Horse Welfare Farm.
“On 26 September there will be a healthy “Home bakes” day at Aden Park Café from 2pm-4pm, this ties in with the Vintage Tractor Day being held at Aden Country park where public will also be entertained in the Courtyard by local musicians,” Lorraine added.
