Making the most of Aden Country Park
Aden Country Park in Mintlaw, Aberdeenshire, celebrates its 30th birthday this year and to celebrate Buchan Development Partnership and Aberdeenshire Council are working in partnership to help establish ways in which we can make the most of the much-loved Country Park.
Funding has been successfully secured from LEADER (the Scottish Government and the European Commission programme to support rural Scotland) and the Buchan Community Planning Partnership from which Development Worker, Neil Shirran, has been recently appointed to produce a 5 year strategic plan for the Park and look at how best to promote, regenerate, and make Aden Country Park more sustainable for future generations.
Development Worker, Neil Shirran said:
“I’m really excited by the new challenge. Aden Country Park is somewhere I visited often both as a child and adult. I’m looking forward to working with all staff and local community alike to try and maximise the use of Aden Country Park, and build on the Park’s reputation as being the hidden jewel in Buchan’s tourism crown.”
“It’s really important that we hear what people think about Aden Country Park and how they think we can regenerate and maximise its use. You can have your say by going to http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/adencountrypark and filling in the online questionnaire. It’s your Park so to tell us what you think”.
Aden Country Park is a 230 acre site situated in central Buchan, connecting the villages of Mintlaw and Old Deer and linking on to the Formartine and Buchan Way. The Park provides quality recreational space for the local community and visitors to the area with plenty of activities for all ages, abilities and interests.
Buchan Development Partnership is an independent community led local rural partnership established in 2000 by local people to help progress economic, social and environmental community development in the Buchan area of Aberdeenshire.
Buchan Development Partnership is working in partnership with the various services of Aberdeenshire Council working in Aden Country Park to deliver this project. These are Aberdeenshire Museum Service, Landscape Services, The Ranger Service, Aberdeenshire Cultural Services and the Buchan Area Manager.
