Award-winning caravan parks open their doors
24th March 2008
Aberdeenshire Council’s award-winning caravan parks are now open for business and ready to welcome guests.
All of the authority’s caravan parks, except for Banff Links, opened on Good Friday. (March 21)
The council operates six coastal caravan parks at Banff, Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Portsoy, Rosehearty and Stonehaven.
It also runs four countryside parks at Aden, Ballater, Haughton and Turriff and all are close to local amenities and attractions.
Every summer the parks are inspected by VisitScotland and given a star grading to reflect their quality.
Aberdeenshire Council’s caravan parks range from one star self-catering accommodation at Haughton, through to 2, 3, 4 and 5 star parks.
All ten parks were again awarded “highly commended” status in the customer service category at the annual Northern Lights Tourism Awards 2007.
Aberdeenshire Council’s Director of Transportation and Infrastructure, Iain Gabriel, said: “As well as boosting local economies, the council’s caravan parks provide an ideal opportunity for visitors to enjoy the unique atmosphere and environment of Aberdeenshire, which have been nationally recognised.
“We hope the thousands of visitors we expect at our caravan parks this season will enjoy themselves as much as many previous generations.”
