It's a Knockout with Bain Henry Reid
An entire day of glorious summer sunshine (well, mostly glorious) at Aden Country Park in Mintlaw provided the perfect setting for a wet, wild and wacky It's A Knockout event with a fantastic group of enthusiastic competitors from Bain Henry Reid.
The early morning start saw 6 nervous teams of athletes step into the Aden Arena in eager anticipation of the fabulous day of It's A Knockout entertainment that lay ahead. They had certainly come dressed for the occasion, with some of the more serious athletes sporting their new sports shoes! An early congratulations goes out to Gerry from Team Yellow here, apparently he has learned how to put t-shirts on the right way round now! Following some Bacon Rolls and the odd early morning gallon of pick-me-up caffeine, the big kick-off to the It's A Knockout event arrived!
The It's A Knockout event kicked off with what has now become our world famous Team Challenge Company Warm-Up. The Blue Team warm-up style was particularly impressive, and their Star-Jumps were a wonder to behold...! With the cobwebs dusted off and bacon roll thrown up (or at least nearly !) the It's A Knockout event sprang into action with the opening challenges. The teams were thrown in at the deep-end as the battled it our head-to-head in a bid for bonus points on the mighty Bungee Run, the hilarious Gladiator Duel and the always exhausting Human Table Football.
Team Red dominated the Human Table Football early doors with Hazel never swearing once...maybe 1,000,067 times would be closer (but who's counting ) and Angelic Vicky (who was more than happy to kick anything in front of her including the Goalie!) lead her team to victory after victory with a cricket score. Team Cerise were phenomenal on the Gladiator Duel, as Graham and the girls took no prisoners, beating opponents to the ground left, right and centre - it looked like a Highland Massacre! Jennifer smiled a lot as she demolished the opposition and stretched for victory on the Bungee Run, going for a win against every single competitor she faced off against on throughout the day of It's a Knockout entertainment!
After lunch we changed the pace and shooting legend Iain did some serious damage on the Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting, and the Yellow Team pushed their advantage in the archery with the top score of 74 - True Warriors! The competition was close over at the Archery, but a surprise low score of 38 from Team Baby Pink meant they would have to work hard to claw the deficit back throughout the afternoon of It's a Knockout fun.
The mighty Sponge Fling proved to be one of the most popular It's a Knockout Challenges on the day, though that is perhaps because it resembled a wet t-shirt contest more than anything else...Euan was in his element! The Big Finale race across the almighty Assault Course marked the end of the It's A Knockout madness, and all that was left was to tally up the points and announce the champs! Who would have the honour of stepping up to collect the much-coveted Team Challenge Company It's A Knockout Winners Trophy? There could be only one champion but what was their colour ?
Despite a valiant effort from the entire team, the Baby Pink's were unfortunately unable to bring themselves on level terms following the morning It's a Knockout activities, and were proudly presented with the Wooden Spoon to take home in shame! And so, stepping up to claim a sensational It's A Knockout victory and take home the Team Challenge Company Winners Trophy, was the unstoppable Team Cerise!
A fantastic day of It's A Knockout entertainment had been enjoyed by all, and it was absolutely tremendous fun for everyone involved. A big thank-you must go out the Vicky, whose hard work and effort really made the entire event a special one. It was great to work with such a fun bunch of people from Bain Henry Reid, and Team Challenge Company certainly look forward to seeing you all again soon.
