Aden Fun Run in aid of MACBI on Sunday
After the massive success of last year’s MACBI Fun Run, Aden Country Park, Mintlaw is to play host for the 2nd MACBI Fun Run on Sunday 11th March 2012 at 1pm, with registration taking place between 12 noon and 12.45pm.
The fun run event is aimed at both providing a fun day out in Aden Country Park, and helping to raise awareness and support of the MACBI (Mintlaw and Central Buchan Initiative) Community Centre Project which is looking to create a state-of-the-art community centre in Mintlaw.
Members of MACBI have already secured funding for part of the project, and are hopeful of establishing a multi-purpose community centre serving the needs of communities throughout Central Buchan.
The event raised £600 last year and Councillor Norman Smith, who is heavily involved with the project hopes for the same success. Norman added “Last year was a huge success and with over 160 runners turning up on the day. We’re hoping for the same footfall this year”.
Four runs will take place, a 1K for boys and girls (under 8’s), 3K for boys and girls (aged 9 -16) and adults (16 and over), 5K for adults (16 and over), and for the more adventurous a 10K run also aimed at adults (16 and over).
Entry is free for children under 16, with a £5 entry for adults who are over 16. Medals will be awarded to all finishers and all proceeds will go to the MACBI Community Centre Project.
All runners should gather in the courtyard area (in front of the Aberdeenshire Farming Museum) in Aden Country Park. Registration forms and further information can be downloaded from the MACBI Fun Run webpage and should be completed and handed in on the day of the event.
