Underground Bunker Created at Aden Park
The Aberdeenshire Farming Museum in Aden Country Park is exhibiting memorabilia and other artifacts from the Royal Observer Corps Association.
The exhibit in the upstairs gallery of the museum displays pictures, equipment and a scale cross section of a bunker.
The 29th Royal Observer Corps Association (ROCA) have been looking for somewhere to display the collection for some time. The display concentrates on Cold War memorabilia, although the museum is considering changing the display to Second World War artifacts later this year. The Royal Observer Corps was originally a volunteer organisation which was associated with the RAF, but which was later used as an aircraft detecting system.
In 1955 the corps were given a nuclear reporting role by the Home Office.
Chairperson of the 29th ROCA Hazel Farquhar said: “We are all very pleased with the display and thanks to the museum service for all their help.”
