Buchan Bike Challenge Returns to Aden
Families, individuals, and businesses are all being encouraged to get on their bikes this Spring to take part in Buchan’s favourite family friendly bike ride, the Aden Bike Challenge. The cycling event will take place on Sunday 10th March and will take in some of the most beautiful sights in the local Buchan area.
The Aden Bike Challenge is a scenic ten mile trail which will start from the Community Centre in Peterhead, along the Formartine and Buchan Way (a former railway line converted into a purpose built off-road trail), ending in the beautiful surrounding of Aden Country Park in Mintlaw.
On arrival to Aden Country Park each participant will receive a medal, goodie bag, certificate, and warm welcome. There will be a celebratory atmosphere in Aden Country Park which will include a wide range of activities, facilities and entertainment including an amazing bike road show, mother’s day country fair, rural life heritage fair, stalls, music, performance, rare breed animals, and access to the award winning Aberdeenshire Farming Museum, café and Aden craft & gift shop.
A predominantly traffic-free cycle route, the bike event is suitable for everyone regardless of biking experience or fitness; it’s definitely not a race! Individuals, friends, families, groups, and businesses are all very welcome to come along for a wonderful biking day out in bonnie Buchan.
An optional shuttle bus and lorry transport service is also available from Aden Country Park at both the beginning and end of the event to ferry participants, their bikes and supporters from Aden to the start line in Peterhead.
The Aden Bike Challenge is programmed to be part of the Buchan Feeling Good Festival, promoting Health & Wellbeing and the benefits of cycling as a sociable and active way to improve physical and mental health in the local Buchan area.
Event participants can register for the event online by visiting www.adencountrypark.org.uk or on the day at the start line at the Peterhead Community Centre. Registration will be open from 9.30am until 12pm at Peterhead.
Entry is only £6 per adult and £3 per child/young person (17 years and under) with all proceeds from the event going to support the vital services provided by Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland to the local community in the North East of Scotland.
The event has been organised by a partnership of Aberdeenshire Council, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, Buchan Development Partnership, NHS Grampian, Aberdeenshire Community Planning Partnership and Getabout.
