Aden Allotments Project to hold Open Meeting

allotments1The Aden Community Allotments Association (ACAA) are to hold an open meeting to discuss and keep everyone informed to current progress, and the future development plans for allotments and community garden in Aden Country Park. The open meeting is to be held on Thursday 20th June, at 7pm, in the award winning Aberdeenshire Farming Museum.

After identifying the land, getting approval from the Buchan Area Committee, receiving the appropriate planning permission, and successfully securing funding totalling over £77,000 from the Keep Scotland Beautiful - Climate Challenge Fund (CCF), the Aden Community Allotment Association (ACAA) are now ready to get the project officially started.

Scottish GovThe project has already generated a lot of interest with the local community and it is thanks to the ACAA management committee, Aberdeenshire Council, and Buchan Development Partnership (BDP) that we now ready to make the project a reality.

“We are going to create a fantastic allotment and community garden site in Aden Country Park. The site will have a community garden and approximately 42 different sized allotments, ranging from 10 x 10 metres, 10 x 20metres, or 20 x 20 metres in size. If you are interested in getting an allotment, want to be involved with the community garden, or simply want to be kept informed of what’s planned, please come along to the open meeting”.

Allotments2The allotments and community gardens project will not only provide the local community with an opportunity to substantially reduce their carbon footprint by composting and reducing waste and grow your own food, but it will also provide a chance to meet and socialise with like-minded folk. non-members with a chance to learn valuable skills associated with growing your own fruit and vegetables.
