DESCRIPTION:Each year\, Dementia Awareness Week (DAW) is held with the aim of raising awareness of dementia and helping improve the lives of people with dementia\, their families and carers. This year’s Dementia Awareness Week will take place between 2 – 8 June. \nTo help raise awareness of dementia\, Aden Country Park is to host an Alzheimer Scotland advice point and information stand on Wednesday 4th June between 10am and 1pm. \nAlzheimer Scotland want to make sure that nobody faces dementia alone. Our Dementia Advisors support people with dementia\, their families and carers and work with local communities. SUMMARY:Health Walk
DESCRIPTION:Come along for a walk in the park. The Aden health walks take place every second Friday at 10am. The walks usually last between 30 minutes and an hour and are suitable for all abilities. At the end of the walk everyone will get a free cup of tea or coffee. If you would like to come along please meet at the play area entrance at 10am. Please note: dogs are not permitted on the health walk. \nHealth Walks are a supportive and welcoming way for you to start enjoying the many benefits of being physically active \nA Health Walk: \n• is a friendly group walk\n• takes place regularly\n• is led by a trained Walk Leader along a risk assessed route\n• is less than an hour long\n• welcomes new participants who would benefit from being more active\n• is an opportunity to meet new people in your area and explore places you might not have been before \nHealth Walks are aimed at those who would benefit most from being more active and meeting others. This could include people who haven’t been active for a while and would like to start again\, people recovering from ill health or who are managing a long-term condition\, and anyone who’s been told by a health professional that they would benefit from being more active. \nThose joining a local walk enjoy a whole range of benefits including increased fitness\, improved mood and increased social interactions with other people and the local area. Taking part is free and requires no special equipment\, making it an ideal way to become more active.
