An event to raise awareness about volunteering opportunities will take place at Aden Country Park on Tuesday, February 11th from 10am to 12pm and Wednesday, February 12th from 1pm to 3pm. Representatives from Aden Country Park will be available to discuss the different volunteering opportunities that are available.
Aden Country Park in Mintlaw, Aberdeenshire, is a 230-acre country park. The park features a central courtyard area with unique semi-circular farmstead buildings built around the 1800s. These buildings now house the Aberdeenshire Farming Museum, Café at Aden, Aden Craft & Gift Shop, and Coach House Visitor Information Centre. The park has a range of partners including The Friends of Aden, Mintlaw and District Men’s Shed, Aberdeenshire Council, The Book of Deer, Aden Allotments, and Buchan Development Partnership, all offering a range of volunteering opportunities.
The volunteering awareness event will provide information for those interested in volunteering in the park. Currently, there are various volunteering roles available with all park partners, from assisting at park events to participating in practical activities at the Mintlaw Men’s Shed. Opportunities are open to people of all ages and abilities. All partners will offer a range of information and sign-up sheets for those who wish to get involved. Additionally, guided tours of the park and the allotments will be available. Refreshments and goodie bags will be provided for attendees.
Chair of the Friends of Aden, Sheila Dargie said, “The Friends of Aden are a body of volunteers who help out within the park at events such as Seedy Sunday, Tractor Day and the Aden Music Festival. Volunteers also help out in the Craft and Gift Shop. If you have a couple of spare hours we would love to have you as part of our team.”
Justine Tough, Development Officer at Buchan Development Partnership, stated, “Aden offers various volunteering opportunities. These can enhance mental health and wellbeing, strengthen community connections, and build confidence. Opportunities include assisting at park events, participating in Aden Allotments, or joining Mintlaw Men’s Shed.”
The awareness event is open to all. It will take place in the Coach House Visitor Information Centre, located within the Courtyard at Aden Country Park. Refreshments will be available.
