Aberdeenshire Farming Museum

The Aberdeenshire Farming Museum is located within the central courtyard in Aden Country Park, next door to the Aden Cafe. The museum tells the story of the North East’s farming past. The award-winning museum describes the farming story with themes including: The Aden Estate Story, The Horseman’s House and Weel Vrocht Grun. The museum also features the 1950’s Hareshowe Farm, however, at the moment Hareshowe Farm is not open to the public, we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Aberdeenshire Farming Museum

The museums main exhibition is “Weel Vrocht Grun”, which means well worked ground. It tells the story of how farming developed in North East Scotland from the late eighteenth century to the mid twentieth century. The exhibition is divided into different displays, from ploughing and sowing to grain processing.

Hareshowe Farm
Horsemans House

The Aden Estate Story exhibitions tell the history of the land, the people and the buildings in which the exhibition is held. The Horseman’s House takes a look at what home and family life was like for Aden Home Farm’s horseman in the 1920s.

Opening Times

The Aberdeenshire Farming Museum is open from April until October. The museum is open Thursday to Sunday from 11am to 4pm. (last entry at 3.30pm). Unfortunately Hareshowe Farm is not open to the public at the moment, apologise for any inconvenience caused. Admission to the museum is free but donations are welcomed.
